    Fuel Tank Question

Apart from the Pro Alloy fuel tank which is purpose made to use the normal wing fuel cap has anyone seen or done the same with any of the other fuel tanks on the market?

I know that the fill neck height of most of the standard alloy tanks is too high so that the connecting hose would be almost level.

I don't know if this would solve your problem but would you be willing to put the filler cap in the rear pillar like this ex works mk1 escort? Or does it have to stay in the rear quater?

I think that's what I'm going to do I don't think it will be that difficult to do but you won't be able to use rear seats I guess and it would be better to get a custom tank made with the fuel inlet at a more suitable angle

Of course you can use the rear seats. Use a standard group 4 tank and run a neck to it through the rear pillar.

That's the reason I went for the Pro Alloy tank - to re-use the standard filler. Anyway, the only other thing I've seen is, I believe a mk2 long-range tank / aka a South African mk2 tank:

Thanks for the replies. Never knew about the SA tank.

There is a MK1 near me with the filler cap in the rear pillar, which I've had a good look at, but the car is painted and I really don't what to start over again. The obvious choice is the Pro Alloy tank but I'm finding it had to justify the cost, £550, for a car that's only going to be used for about 1500 miles a year.
