i'm thinking of getting a model escort mk1 and want to know your views on which is better quality and detail. without actually getting off me arse and looking in the shops, its hard to tell just by looking at the pictures on eBay.

Trofeu are better detailed, but Minichamps are cheaper. Depends what you're after, but I'd go for Trofeu. They have a much larger range of old Fords too.
