    v6 cosworth into escort cosworth

    Hey TurboSport guys,

i have an client/friend that wants an v6 cosworth in his escort cosworth, the car is just an track day toy, but he wants something different from the original,

so the question is, as it is me there are during the conversion for him, i would like to do it with as many stock/original parts as possible,
is there any car thats most of is fits from,

it is only about the mechanical aspect or is, i will figure out the electronics later, as i know he properly wants to turbo it later, so we start with an other ecu from the beginning, and map it later,

i hope i will get some advise from you guys

teases types of cars is not really my strong side, i am use to work on Toyota 4x4 race trucks and Landrover 4x4 race trucks

The 2.9 24v has the same basic block as the 12v 2.9 fitted to the Sierra XR4x4 for example, the easiest way is to get a 2,9 WR4x4 MT75 gearbox. It should slot straight into a Escort Cosworth shell. You need to use a 4x4 2.9 12v sump on the 24v, and modify that for the oil returns from the heads, probably also use a 2.9 12v 4x4 oil pickup tube. I would guess Sierra 2.9 4x4 engine mounts would work too.

The BOB 24v have around 208 bhp, with good management and exhaust you usually see quite a bit more. Nice engine and strap some turbos on it for more power ;-)

    okay, thanks gustaf.

so now i just got to find an xr4x4 (i will find one in germany), and steal the parts from it, and mix and match, what is needed, the bob engine is easy enough to find here in Denmark,
so now i know what the winter time will be spend with.

is it yours the one in the photo

Just make sure you get a 2.9 XR4x4 (with the MT-75 gearbox, 2.8 XR4x4 have the older type 9).

The Capri in the picture is a car I was involved with 10 years ago, it ran a twin turbo setup on a standard compression BOA, just O-ringed heads. Somewhere around 1.2 bar on E85, ran an 11.04 something 1/4-mile.

thanks for the info about the 2,9 and 2,8 difference,i would be easier to find the right one the first time, instead hunting more cars or parts,

I remember the prototype Ford built many years ago when the 24v Cosworth was first fitted to the Granada.

It was a fantastic car according to the guys who drove it.

Not hard to fit to a proper Cosworth shell either.

A guy has one in Ireland that has the later engine that looks fab.
