    Faulty air compressor

I'm having problems with my air compressor, i haven't used it in two years. its a 25 L tank with a 2.5hp motor

Now it won't go above 5 psi, its not the gauges as it barely blows through a spray gun.

Ive stripped the regulator down and that and its full of gunk but i can't see anything wrong

    but

theres slight pressure coming from the oil filler for the pump? is this normal or have the rings gone

just need to underseal my car so it can get mot'd

    Re: Faulty air compressor

Before I go I should say I know nothing about compressors!!

But ours at work had a rubber Diaphragm which had the tiniest split in it and that was enough to stop it pressurising.

No idea where it was or what it did, but if you can find one on yours it might be worth checking.

Get similar problems myself, though it gets up to around 40psi, but is constantly bleeding air through the pressure switch/check valve (highly irritating when you're needing to inflate tyres to 45psi!)
Not sure who i could send it to for repair though?

AS for your compressor, you say that it was full of gunk, have you tried de-gunking, refitting and trying again? Pressure from oil filler could just be the only place un-gunked that the air can get out??

Your needing to replace the relief valve then, it's lifting too early, probably not seating properly
