    Strut identification

Ok so I need some lowering springs for my mk1 and I'm not sure what my struts are from. They were solid disc when I got the car but as mine was a 1100 I'm pretty sure it didn't come with discs standard.

Also what sort of springs would be needed to get it to this height. Or maybe 1" higher.

The car above belongs to Gary Morgan and has coil overs along with a lot of other mods to ride that low not just a spring swap.

Are the steering arms cast into bottom or do they bolt on ? And is the damper insert held in with screw collar (removable)

    Strut identification

Where damper rod comes out of bottom case you may see it's through a threaded cap or a crimped cap

Most bolt on steering arms are rs or Capri struts in which case the cap will screw out in order to replace the damper unit

    Re: Strut identification

I've got a set of mk1/2 escort nonRS disc struts which have bolt on steering arms and also a screw collar to secure the damper into the strut tube.

In comparison to 2.0 capri/RS struts that I also have the springs on the nonRS struts are smaller in diameter, the steering arms are different (which fouled the wildwood brake kit brackets i had), the wheel hub/ spindle is smaller, and the solid discs to fit these are different to capri discs in that they have a smaller centrebore (if I remember correctly)

    Hope this helps!

    Strut identification

Yes the steering arm bolts are at different centeres

Best check is measure stub diameter and compare to rs and non rs bearing Id on Google
