    XE Installation

Hi there guys. I've just been reading the posts below and gathered quite a bit of information from them. I just want to run my ideas past you and see if they're feasible!

I am new to all of this rwd stuff! I have been involved in the world of autograss for 11 years but only with minis! Now i've been out and bought a ready built Class 3 Toyota Starlet (sorry for swearing) and aim to mount an 8 valve Vauxhall motor in the front. It currently has a Volvo 2.3 in there, but he's keeping the motor.

    I have bought a previously raced 8 valver but it was front wheel drive. I think i need the following to convert after reading your posts;

7 degree bellhousing for Type 9 box
    Clutch/Cover/Spigot etc
Manta big wing sump & pick up pipe
7 degree Inlet manifold for my Weber 45's
Mounting Kit (i think one of these is coming with the car!)
    BIG BALLS!

Am i right? Is there anything i'm missing?

I'm not too worried about the bulkhead as a) i'm allowed to modify it and b) I'm gonna stick an ecu system on it anyway.

Can you recommend anywhere i can get these bits? I see Yukspeed has been mentioned a few times. I am chasing a couple of manta sumps on ebay at the mo!

Any helpful advice you could give me would be muchly appreciated.

    Thanks, John.

Hi mate-ckeck Ebay for the bits-although some parts are getting scarily priced now-Manta sumps especially. Yuk's the man for most of the other bits and pieces if you get stuck tho-he does a steel sump for RWD's too. You'll also need an exhaust+manifold-not sure on 8 valvers tho probably very different to XE's??

You seem to have most other stuff covered-keep us posted on how ya go mate.

    John.

    Thanks for the info guys.

I'm going to have a Tony Law Exhaust and manifold as he does them where they pass through the bulkhead into the car and out of the rear quarter - hence no cutting of sump and little chance of crushing it on these ruddy tyre markers we have in our sport!

I'll keep you posted on how I go!

    Thanks again
    John.

Retain the Vaux clutch pressure plate, and use a ford friction plate.

Other than that, looks like you've got it covered.
