    Underside painting options?

    Evening chaps.

Been on the Girlfriends escort all weekend, now most of the way through the body repairs, so its got me thinking about how to protect the new metal I've been adding.

At this stage, I'm getting it up to spec for its first UK MoT, so not going mental on it. Down the line, we plan to 4 link, turret and forest arch it, so will got right through the shell be for paint, where i was going to pait the floor and do a coat of bag sealer.
But, for now, the metal needs painting, obviously, but that should i put on top? Shultz, waxoyl and stonechip are all a bit messy and untidy, but bag sealers a bit expensive to go removing after a year or 2..

    any other ideas?

Heatgun and a scraper removes it pretty well when it comes that time

I use bitumen paint on the underside of my car, for me personally does as good a job (provided it's warmed up a little) as waxyoil just its a lot cheaper

Waxoyl for some reason is NOT the same stuff it once was for some reason. I use Dinitrol its more of a fluid and gets to places that waxoyl can't.

Cheers for the ideas guys. Currently thinking its gonna be etchprimer, topcoat and stonechip for the time being...

On the idea of Upol Raptor, I actually did this about 6 Years ago on my Sapphire resto, when it was pretty new on the market. was excelelnt stuff. i did find it chipped easier than i would have liked, rather than being slightly elastic. i also had a couple spots where a void created underneath it, alsthough that may have been down to a some of the primer used under it....

    Ford sill grey over primer

Upol Raptor, Tinted 30% with moonstone blue basecoat

    Condition after 2 years/20k miles...

This might be frowned upon by the purists on here...but I've used exterior grade household gloss brushed onto the underside of 2 of my Mk1's...and it looks and lasts really well (15 years on one of them). Good resistance to stone chips as it stays a little soft, and it's cheap and easy to find too - I even got colour matched gloss for my Mk1 when it was Le-Mans green!

I've heard of this before. I think chassis paint is essentially the same thing. Don't quote me on that though

Used raptor on mine in the end, sprayed with normal spray gun and tinted with colour, comes out really smooth, basically like a slight orange peal. Really nice, better than some spry jobs I've seen!
