Advise with the Porous Modification to non-Coscast XE heads

Can anyone help me with some advise regarding the porous mod I have read about, being done to non-Coscast heads. I have had a lot of headwork done and before fitting back into my Mk2 Escort wondered if it was worth me doing the mod. I have read that an almininium pipe 8mm outside dia should be put through the oilway in the centre of the head after removing the blanking plugs either side and loctited in before refitting the blanking plugs.

Should the pipe be the full width of the head (allowing room for the plugs to be refitted) so as to completely block the oilway?.

I have seen that a pipe should then be fitted beneath the cams at the rear of the head replacing the two blanking plugs.

    Thanks.

B+q for the pipe. Only needs too be as long asthe centre oil way between the headbolt holes. Just get a round file too take edges off where protrudes slightly into headbolt holes. If that makes any sense. Use some loctite aswel. Do no harm. Take you 15min to do and cost about £5

how tight fitting is the pipe? if its too tight, it will bind.
you either need to sand down the pipe a bit, or freeze it first. it could be caught on a burr or a sharp edge

get yourself a 8mm hand reamer using a tap wrench and run it thru the hole first that way you can make sure the hole is round smooth and the right size.

Thanks, i ordered a new one...this one looks like a banana!
I will try all methods together...sand the hole, sand the pipe and freeze it!
