Could anyone tell me what engine model this style of alloy cam cover would have come off?
I presume a VVT model due to the raised side?

Alloy covers are usually off the Ranger 2.3 engine block, one of the first Duratec's that tuners took to their hearts

We used an alloy Mazda one for this project.
That isn't a vvt one btw in your pic.
They are not particularly light, but more sturdy than the plastic and of course can be modified and painted

Just hard work trying to find a Ranger which isn't a diesel.
Looks like some 2.0L Mondeo engines have them too
Yes the earlier Duratec mondeo had a similar alloy cam cover but it was level.
Sadly this means it probably doesn't have the hi flow head the later ones came with.
Not mine , courtesy of Facebook , an aussie mob came up with this, which i got the idea for mine from.
The valve covers of high-flow and earlier heads, Ford and Mazda and all the other Duratecs are all interchangeable.
There may be some variations due to VVT cam sprocket and control solenoid to watch out for though.
Who is the Aussie group doing that cam cover? It looks good.
Cheers,
Roger.
I've got an alloy one which I could sell if anyone is interested?
As per my message:

What does that motor live in? Looks interesting.
Certainly is, S1 Elise. It's my own conversion and has been through a few evolutions. Now an ST Engine, fully rebuilt with Jenvey throttle bodies and another carbon air box (I am getting used to making them now :-) )
You make them?!
Very interesting, would you be up for selling one? For use in a mk2 escort.
That is my engine and cover Roger (the Aussie mob)
