Escort mk1 Power Steering
As I'm getting old and my elbows don't work anymore I'm going to fit corsa power steeing. Did an event today and i couldn't do handbrake turns because i cant turn the wheel with one hand anymore. As corsa C eps now seems more available, do they fit a mk1? I've been told they are bigger than the corsa B. I would like to keep the standard column cowl. Thanks in advance.

Re: Escort mk1 Power Steering
Ya corsa c fits fine, I used a short spline shaft that rally design sell to extend the columb through to the rack. I used a pressed steel bearing unit bolted to the bulkhead/floor which supports the shaft as it goes through the floor and makes a nice job of it. You can then make a bracket to mount to dash then use a corsa steering boss which saves hassle of modding the top...

they will both fit, but imo the b is a better job, ( also more reliable )

there does seem to be a huge price difference between the B and C ones tho which is probably reflected in what mk2mania says.

Re: Escort mk1 Power Steering
As it happens my brother said to me today that I can have the corsa B one he built for his mk2 and took off so I will mod that to fit the mk1. Mk1rs1600's method does sound a neat way of fitting it though. Thanks everyone.
