    XE Cooling

Just wandering what type of cooling system any of you guys are using in your mk1 or mk2 running a 2l vauxhall motor? I know there's readily available custom made alloy types for around the 300 quid mark, but was wandering if a radiator from any other car would do?

    Thanks in advance

    Totally agree

You don't need to go overboard with the cooling on one of these. I used a mk1 capri rad, and had it re-cored with a more modern, more efficient core to be on the safe side. Also - i had the rad sealed up and used the GM header tank - perhaps this is uneccesary though.

thermostatically controlled kenlowe - dead simple and works a treat.

yes mate, for road use with anything like the original power output it'd be OK. The more modified the engine, the more heat it'd be generating so you might want to upgrade a bit.

well you can if you like... but they are expensive, and my strategy was along the lines of don't spend money where it's not needed. (i.e. the big header capri or transit rad do the job just nice)

Anyway, copper/brass is superior as a material for making automotive rads!
