Anyone seen this engine in rwd format? Pretty sure it would spin round and mate to an mx5 box just not sure about getting a stand alone ecu to match up? Got an escort here I'd like to put it in. Cheers

Not sure on fitting as I'm not familiar with the economist engine is it a duratec?
Management is no problem to sort out but it's easier if you use what the company your going to get to map it is used to you can get an eco from Omex, emerald, data , move etc

IIRC this is a direct injection engine and not sure if the usual ECU suspects can cope with that. LIFE ecu seems to be the choice but this is not cheap.

I am not sure of the spelling, but try Canems Engine management, you may get what your looking for?
I stand corrected if you are indeed correct that the ecoboost is direct injection

Yes ecoboost is direct injection so very few and I think no affordable aftermarket ecu's.
Cheers lads yep it was the direct injection bit that was foiling me as I don't think omex etc do an ecu that'll cope with that. I'll get a bit of research done cheers for the links
Are caterham not running the 1.0 eco boost at about 170bhp in their kit cars?
Don't think so. They have the 160 with the Suzuki 660cc engine for passing kei car regs in Japan and then 270 which uses a sigma and I think everything else runs duratec.

Forgive my ignorance but what is special / different about the direct injectors that they can't be driven by a 'regular' ecu?
IIRC they are driven by piezo crystals so require different switching/voltages to normal injectors
The 2 litre can be bought for just over £4k as a complete package with ECU, wiring loom etc etc. However it's very tall, has a fuel pump that sticks out the back a longer way so doesn't work for me on my rwd conversion. Great value for money though.
Forgot to mention that I believe Ford are not happy with the direct injection on the 2 litre.
