oh god im so excited cant wait i love that body kit so much were did you get it by the way?? and how much if cost if you dont mind me asking you?
oooo and David who in turbosport do i contact about the back end kits from the Retro site?? i been trying to email and no responce yet?
Bodykit was one off from a company called fibresports and took a LONG time to get to fit anywhere near right. Plus you need 13-15" wide 16" wheels to fill the rear arches
They also do a slightly narrower kit which is still wider (10" wheels) than a normal x-pack. Their number is 01268 527331.
Gary at retromotorsport can be contacted on 01279 452799 or send him a private message through turbosport

This car really is special
Had a little play with the car today as I got home from work early and the Pipes were beavering away on the van giving it more mod cons and better decoration than my flat
This is my boot floor showing the exhaust housing in the boot for those that hadn't seen it;
Anyway I needed to make a small incision for a couple of suspension mods i have planned;
Yes that is the floor of the garage on full view now
Oh well if you're gonna modify something do it properly eh?
There is still more to cut, a fair bit more, so I'll update it with some (decent ) pics as the week goes on

Gary loves working on them when they are freshly painted
She's built like a Steakhouse, but handles like a Bistro
Did a bit more cutting today
All I need to do now is remove the origional ford damper mount section (bra?) and tidy up the edges of the firewall ready to fit a neater one.

You taking the Mickey out of me calling the damper x-member a " bra " ?????
its like a bra, its got two bumps, some fastenings, is an interesting shape.... but far more interesting when its taken off.
See....a Bra

Now thats a hole
Dave, your watts thingy looks a bit loose!!
I assume you will be getting busy with aluminum sheets pretty soon then??
There will be a new watts tower/crossmember which will incorperate a tank mount and yes Tel the rest will be an ally panel

I remember drooling over this in GP2 Zetec form in Practical Performance Cars a while back. Its came a long way and is lookin top notch!
It certainly has come a long way since then!!
mainly on a trailer to different garages!!
I look forward to seeing it in action 2007 tho!
& I thought we had got rid of those bloody thundersaloon escorts!!
Happy New year to all
Great work dave, i cant believe your doing this work after its been painted tho. your mad but if you going to do something, do it right keep the pics coming
Who's doing the work?
good ole Dave!, Taking all the credit as usual!!
Pressed on with a bit more cutting today in preparation for a bit of fabrication from Gary. I've now cut the entire boot floor between the chassis rails, the damper x-member, firewall and a load of strengthening Gary had welded in to stop the whole lot flexing around.
Looks fairly neat now and i've cleaned up all the edges alot better since taking the pics;
In the meantime Andy carried on with the wiring and completed the Dash and switch box. All looking very smart now and the black ally bracket on the tunnel is what I've made to fit the driver's two pull cables (not riv-nutted down yet).
Oh and Andy did a couple of laps of the Brands Indy circuit to check all of the gauges and lights were working on the dash
Thanks to the Pipes for all of there help and hopspitality this week, can't believe how much we've got done

awesome looking car dave, a hate to think how much it's cost you so far, all credit to you and the boys for having the vison to create a monster of an escort ,it looks too good to race but the buzz your get went lining up on the grid for it's first race will fantastic ,now hurry up and get finished so we can swamp the grids old escorts
I spy with my little eye something belonging to DW
I cant see nowt
oh dear, it'll be scantily clad chicks on the bonnet next!!
Andy and David picked up the car from Matts today .....
Pure sex wee
Very nice, could do with lowering a bit
Looking very nice!
What a fantastic looking car very well done m8
Cheers. Rick.
that definatly looks to nice to race now.
dunno about lowering it though,
with a race car i feel its more important to let the suspension geometry set the ride height than any other consideration, and with large diameter wheels its often not possible to run cars a low as road counter parts because of geometry issues
Could'nt resist :
That car is
saw this at the UKSC + FUEL meet...................PHWOOOOOR!!
absolutely gorgeous!
Rust....Rust....Thats not rust, Its speed Holes...DUH!
Scrimping and Saving!
Cheers guys. The front of the car is a lot higher than normal to aid all the moving about on the trailer etc but the back is already a lot lower than you might think. Ignore the arches as they are cut up really high, you simply need to stand next to it and look down at the roof or the bootlid to realise its much lower than a normal car.
As Graham says we have to be sensible with the geometry in order to make the thing handle and steer correct so that takes priority over the slammed look I'm affraid.
Was nice to have the car on display in Fuel (was Extreme in Harlow) for a while but now I need to get on with building it as I have another £2k worth of bits to go on it over the next couple of weeks
Big thanks to sticky Matt from Image Worx for a great job on all the graphics and numbers. Pop in to Fuel and see him for all your vinyl needs Thanks to Graham also for sorting out my number 98 which I should have all the time now (or until I get number 1 )
Lots of pics on me computer at home too, just need to get internet now (only on line at work )
