    Dekoding Chip on Pectel board for p8 ECU.

    Hi

    Have anybody tried to decode Superchip or Pectel chip for P8 ?

    I am working on Pectel P8.
    It looks like adress 0, 1, 2, 3 repeat from adress 0710 to 0fff.
    D0,DO,D0,DO,,,,,, are changes to CF,53,57,E7,,,,,
    The map area are more difficult

    Re: Dekoding Chip on Pectel board for p8 ECU.

    Hi Some information on Pectel P8 coding. Adress 0,4,8,A have the coding formula. J have made a pascal program to copy this adress to a file. Now the hard work began. Some of then coding formula are known D0=CF, FF=3D, 00=C2. I thing D0 = CF makes 0 = C so if you have a data ending on 0, it will became C. It makes

    0=C 8=D
    1=4 9=5
    2=E A=F
    3=6 B=7
    ------------------------
    4=8 C=9
    5=0 D=1
    6=A E=B
    7=2 F=3
    So to go from C to 4 you only turn off bit value 8. Now the value of D = F (D0 = CF)
    That ho far J have come.

    Let me hear from you

    Hi

    Here are a copy of adress 0,4,8,C to a file cod-048C.bin in Pectel format.

    The file dec-048C.bin are decoded with what I thing is right for Adress 0,4,8,C.

    Adress 1,5,9,D and 2,6,A,E and 3,6,B,F are more difficult

    CODED.BINDECODED.BINHi

    Problem solved I think.

    coded.bin is Pectel P8 coded file, but it is only the Map-part from adress 0710 to 0FFF.

    decoded.bin is the Map-part decoded from adress 0710 to 0fff.

    Hi Robink

    Look at the coded.bin and decoded bin files in post 6.

    This files are from PECTEL copy protection board for P8 ecu.
    J have made a program to decode the map part.

    Hi
    Yes I kind of gathered that, but why, was it for interest or where you trying to modify it.

    All this kind of stuff was done 20+ Years ago and is available in some form, from several suppliers, even the boards, PAL's, chips etc.

    I Was curious as to why you were going to such lengths, presume you know exactly what each Rom chip (M***T*NE ones)is and that they are only compatible with individual boards.

    Re: Dekoding Chip on Pectel board for p8 ECU.

    Hi Kim

    The WOT is a multiplier at 89DO and is a 16 byte curve mapped against RPM, it is limited by U/L and Lower limits of throttle angle which are also 16 byte curves respectively at 89E0 and 89F0. Hope that helps

    I have seen a Grautec Board but not in a P8

    Re: Dekoding Chip on Pectel board for p8 ECU.

    Hi midnigtman

    Yes we can.
    The Pectel decoding map program works.
    The Grautec coding board works the same as EVC olso from Germany, data pin 1 and 4 and 5 are twisted, use a multimeter to find out.
    The Adress pins are olso twisted, use a multimeter.

    Hi
    The Grautec protection board from Germany is now solwed.
    There are 2 sorts of board one for L8 ( more protection ) and one for P8 ( les protection )
    I will make a demo of the decoding program later.

    Re: Dekoding Chip on Pectel board for p8 ECU.

    Hi

    Do you now how to make a program (pascal,....). ?

    First you have to make a program to make 4 files , one for adress 0,4,8,C, one for adress 1,5,9,D ......
    Then you have to make a copy of a org.bin file, and a copy of a tun.bin file. ( Only the map part , start with CF,53,57,E7,CF,53,57,E7......... )
    Now you have to make a program that will compare the org.bin 1 file with tun.bin 1 file .....

    After that you can look for hex value 00 in the org.bin file and compare with tun bin.file (The adress have to match ).

    Write it on paper look for hex 01 and 02 and ....... for all 4 files ( it takes time for Me 3 month. )

    After that you can make a program that will do the job for you.
    I will NOT give away My program but I will help you . ( show me the progress when you begin )

    Regards

    Re: Dekoding Chip on Pectel board for p8 ECU.

    Sorry to bump a thread, but is it possible to decode a p8 pectel encrypted chip? I’ve got a map on a p8 pectel board chip I run at the moment and I’d like to decode it so I can use this as a base map on a GEMs P8.

    Anyone?

    Awesome.

    Don't suppose you would know how to test a P8 - I think my GEMS P8 is dead - no fuel pump prime or iscv test on ignition+

    Plugging my original P8 back in (with a Pectel Board - hence the decrypt) - everything works as it should.

    I must dissapoint you...gems ecu is not using that EEPROM for maps...if you just plug OE bin into eeprom...car wont start.

    Re: Dekoding Chip on Pectel board for p8 ECU.

    I know. I have 2 P8s. One GEMs one and one with a pectel board. I just wanted to put my pectel one back to standard to check that my loom was configured correctly (which it is) and the issues I have lie with the GEMs ecu - it’s not priming the pumps and pulsing the iscv (my P8 with pectel board/chip and also with a standard P8 chip in - it primes and pulses perfectly).

    So thanks to Kim, I can definitely say it’s the GEMs ecu at fault.

    aah yes...

    who knows... if you dont want to save that gems ecu, just change that Special MCU in GEMS to standard 68HC11 for P8...put your 27C256....

    check other components on PCB (if are same as OE P8) and you have OEM P8 ecu

    there is no reason to have some "pectel" in these days....

    I'm pretty sure it's the controller component that's not working on the gems unit

    Re: Dekoding Chip on Pectel board for p8 ECU.

    Just for posterity in case anyone comes to the thread - the GEMS P8 ecu uses a replacement socket mounted MCU - Motorola MC68HC811E2FN and an additional ST Microelectronics VNP5N07 mounted to the ECU case/bar. There are a few other tweaks - such as a removed components, replaced resistors and a 3 pin plug.

    Might be of interest.
