    Mk1/Mk2 Escort RS alloy bellhousing, quick release type, fitted with twin clutch pivot pins so suits RHD or LHD cars, allows gearbox to be removed without removing bellhousing making it "quick release".

    I thought it was to make the angle match the clutch fork angle needed for the ally sump, which then makes the b/h symmetrical for LHD use
