    Welcome

A big welcome to the Classic Ford team who have asked if they can have a forum dedicated to the magazine.

We know from the recent resurrection of the Classic ford post that magazines can't please everyone, but Classic Ford would like to listen to ideas and comments and constructive criticism if you have any

I personally think this is a fantastic idea and a forum first too

So can everyone welcome Steve to his new forum

    Welcome Steve,
I have to say i was more than pleased with the feature on my brothers and my car in the Jan '05 issue. I would of liked to see more action shots, more so of my brothers car,as there was none of his action shots printed. But other than that it was spot on!
    Cheers Kev

    Hello From Clasic Ford

Thank for that Clint and hi to all on Turbo Sport. Yeah, basically wanted to have a big chat with all you guys to get your thoughts, opinions and ideas on the Classic Ford magazine, where it's going and what you like to see and read in it.
We're not blowing our own trumpets but we are the biggest Ford magazine in the country and so need to get all the feedback we can to keep the flag flying for the classic Ford scene, for both you guys and for us.
    So, don't be shy....

Alright Kev, glad you liked the feature, thought the cover looked good as well - hope you made good use of the tyres an all! Actually that cover gave us the best selling issue (up till then) ever, so the cars went down very well mate.

Oooh hello.... This is good... now where do I start...

Ermmm you need to focus more on that fine company RETROMOTORSPORT ..

Glad to have you aboard, it's a blinding idea having a Forum of your own, to answer any questions raised in each months issue, highlight plans, features and up coming Events that Future is involved in.

You've read my views on the mag... the balance between the 4 main points.. Standard Cars v Modified Cars, Home Built v Shop Built, Finished Cars v restoration cars, and Product Placement v Product testing, is always going to be hard. Personally I dont read thoughly the standard car features. or most of the products, as they are normally standard type things, or engine parts.

But I stilll look forward to each issue (and no not just to see my hands) so keep doing what you do, and hopefully improve on what has gone before.

Bought my escort from the free ads in the back of classic ford a few years ago when they were'nt silly money

I always remember being about 16 and looking at a issue of CF with "Escort Heaven" writted on the cover, after reading that buyers guide I knew I had to have one.

    Welcome aboard guys...

I imagine it's a tough job keeping the mag interesting to everyone who reads it...there's only so many times you can run a feature on 4-linking an Escort!! You can't please all of the people all of the time...but you guys do seem to be trying hard.

    Re: Welcome

    Welcome aboard fellas

I know this sounds like a dose of bum licking, but it's not believe me, when i say i have read every issue since number 1... I went through a phase of not buying it, more through laziness than anything being wrong with it - then i would just nick other people's copies when they were finished with them!

It was reading early issues of CF that got me into Escorts in the first place - in particular, a feature on Matt Downer's yellow mk2, which at the time had a pinto. So you and Matt are 50/50 to blame for getting me in the pickle i am in now!

I was lucky enough to have my car on the cover back in Jan '01 - one of the first gp4 spec Vauxhall powered cars to be featured - and it got mixed reactions i must say!

More recently, with the help of Mr Betts, you did that feature on one of my Fully Floating Axles - which (apart from bringing me a lot of business from everywhere up to and including Australia) i thought was a damn good feature - a technical type artical which a lot of people have genuinely found helpful, and that had never been done before... So well done Jon on that idea!

I've discussed with Jon that i'm more than keen to help out, with any material i can for future issues - time and circumstances permitting...

If you guys need anything from me, just keep the pressure on me and i'll sort it out!

    cheers, and best of luck
    Tom

Yep Steve is aware of that, but he obviously seems to hold a grudge

the only reason myself, Smiffy and Cuzzer went there was because I thought it may be a good idea to contact them as I hadn't heard anything, Matt took over and made every effort to find out who was going and get the event organised, if I had known everyone who was invited I would have attempted to get the rest together, but I didn't, so could only muster the 3 of us.

I guess there is a lesson there for when people are dealing with magazines for photoshoots/ thrashes etc,
if you haven't heard from them and are wondering why, then maybe make some effort to try and find out.

Those who run the magazine are people too, and have families, and problems which are far more important to them than whether someones car gets photographed or not.

    Anyway enough of that.

welcome Matt and Steve, hope you enjoy Turbosport

    BTW
The mag needs more coverage of Aussie cars and shows

is it any coincedence that a new classic ford type mag is imminent,

and you now want our thoughts and inputs?

I think you will need to pull your finger out and try a lot harder to please

your potential readership in the future.

less imported articles, and make MUCH more of the cars you do

    Hello and welcome.
As long as you keep featuring Escorts, Capri's and any other old Fords you can't go wrong.
With all the carbon fibre being used in classic fords maybe a feature on how to mold it.
    Keep up the good work.
