Orange is the one mate, maybe the new Ford ST colour????

do u know were you got your info from as it would be nice to find another real 1
Yea i always thought there were two of them, i read somewhere about di's being the only one with the proper colour code for black on the tag....all the others were painted up from white, thats the other black one, the datpost ones and the blue one for the tv prog
mine gone from white to blue then black .well nearly black very soon
Didn't know about Di's one, but there was definately another black S1 built for some Fleet Street paper chap who had only ever bought black RS's since the 70's
di likes a bit of black just look at dido
:tumblewee
the black s1 that princess di (RIP) drove was never registered in her name it stayed under fords name, it was the only genuine black car it even had schwarz (black) on the colour coded chassis plate, every other s1 contrary to popular belief says white on the chassis plates, there is a grey one in existance that was bought brand new then sent back to the factory for a strip and total repaint,
when diana had finished with the series1 it went back to fords had a number plate change, then it ended up as a prize on capital radio for a competition, i believe a woman won it then sold it on to its present owner, think its still only showing approx 25000 miles or there abouts,
Princess Di's was the only series 1 sprayed black directly onto the shell in the factory, as Baz says, it has the word Schwarz on the colour code panel, similar to black Mk2 RS2000s the option was there for other colours for an extra cost, where white cars were stripped down & then resprayed in the factory. Hers was also fitted with an XR3i grille so it wouldn't stand out, later replaced with the RS one. When she owned it it had different plates to the ones that are on it now (C515DYT)
There were a number of others that were resprayed to order created by already assembled white series 1s.
There were 4 or 5 other black ones produced, one of which used to reside in Torbay which was sold on ebay last year in a hell of a state to what it used to be! (Was at one time a show car)
There was a blue one produced for the TV series "Cats Eyes".
There was a grey one which was driven back to the factory straight away & changed.
There were a few red ones produced as well as the Datapost circuit cars & one road version which was a standard road car mocked up in the Datapost livery for shows & promotional work. The road car was also up for sale last year & one of the circuit cars is owned by a mate of mine in Cornwall.
There was also a yellow one produced for the oval circuit
There is a black series one for sale on e-bay at the moment

Thinking of changing the colour of the combi
If you cant see your face in it,You havnt polished it enough!
The ebay one has been on a couple of times over the last month or so. Not sold each time.
No and it didnt sell this time either

I remember seeing this one as i used to live in Plymouth, it had RS1600i seats in
I used to work in the factory where the body coloured parts were painted for all fords.
When I worked there I was painting mk5/6 escort parts, mk3 fiesta parts and used to do a lot of cosworth parts in primer for unipart (as they were no longer in production when I worked there.
I used to speak to the old boys that had worked there forever and asked them about what colours they did on the series one RS's.
I was told by all that worked there then that they made several black and several red cars and even one in pink !! but have never heard anymore of that car.
The bodykits were painted in the red or black from new, never white ones re-painted.
Just to let you know, we used to use a lot of filler on brand new parts !! The moulds were not that great.
We used to also paint Jaguar and Land Rover parts also.
I once forgot to change paint lines on the gun and painted about 200 Land Rover wheel arch extension Ford Diamond White !! Instead of the Land Rover white. Whoops! No one ever noticed, and the cars got sold like that.
When I worked there about ten years ago now, they still had the moulds for the series one kit, but wouldn't make anymore. They have recently (in the last few years) moved premises, and I don't know what happended to the moulds, they probably got scrapped.
heres a link to the s1 data base, loads of odd coulors & handy to look for 1 of your old rs's.
