    Mk1 front wing badges

What badges do people tend to use on their Mexico style wings when it's not a Mexico?
i don't like the idea of making replicas and was thinking of maybe having the holes welded up but is there an accepted badge to use without being called a phoney?

I wouldn't worry about it. If you're building it to look like a Mexico, put Mexico badges on it. I don't see a problem as long as you don't try and pass it off as a real one on the logbook or when selling. I'll be doing the same with RS2000 wing / boot badges on mine.

    That's cool.
I'm just not sure I can be bothered with all the "is it a real one" questions although I think the badges look good!

local sign writing place did it http://www.lr-designs.co.uk/,
i bought some rs2000 ones and they copied it and put them onto a single foil sticker that fills the chrome badge,

they did an a4 sheet so i got about 4 spare aswel. i don't think it cost me over £20

i get alot of people ask me if the car is a real rs,

it doesn't bother me that its not real as i don't pretend it to be an rs. i just like the stripes,

i used to have a 1300e with mexico stripes, said '1300E' on the door tho.

Exactly, do whatever makes you happy. It's your car, not anyone elses!

Incidentally, with the round 'RS' boot badge - was this an option on the RS1600/2000 models? It doesn't seem to be a standard fitment on most of the RS models I've seen - they tend just to have the left hand 'RS' rectangular badge, the F.O.R.D lettering and then the Escort script on the right. The owners manual then shows the round badge to the right of the Escort script, but how common was it?

the round rs badge was only used on the rs1600, but i liked the look of it, goes on the right side of the boot, next to the escort badge

1600 GT would be appropriate if running a xflow, no one would question.
