    Whats the easiest way to sort this



    The captive nut has come away and i can't see how i can get it back in without some major cutting and welding. Could i open the hole up and then melt the nut into the surrounding metal?

    Sorry, its the captive nut in the bonnet that bolts it to the hinge

    It's an m8 thread so I'd be tempted just to weld a nut into the hole

    buy a rivnut tool and put a rivnut in there?
