    New Car!

Well just so I can take my time with the Escort and not feel left out at meets, I've bought myself another car. Gonna need a banana and yellow turbosport stickers

More pics when I pick it up tomorrow. I'll definately be "popping" down to the next turbosport meet in it

    It's very...............erm......yellow.
So yellow it hardly needs a banana.

    Look forward to seeing it.

    Re: New Car!

I can have a look on the wheel for any markings, or take a close up pic of the wheels. Plans for it are to fix the various electrical gremlins, fit seatbelts, new bonnet (maybe), 3 bar grill, lower front end to match back (back lowered 2" already), and enjoy Might need a new exhaust too as it makes the Escort seem quiet, although I love the excessive burbling on over-run

Nice one Rich, def gotta do something with the bonnet though.
As for identifying the slot mags best way is take them off, put them in a dark place.....

    ...and fit some decent wheels

Do like the car a lot though, bout time you had something that stood out

    Re: New Car!

Yeah the bonnet is a bit stupid. Hopefully its stuck on over the bonnet with no cut outs, then it will be easy to remove And I think slots suit the car a lot. I doubt those image split rims would fit but I might give them a go.

Be nice to see it with a set of supalites on to compare. (photoshop!)

Is the bonnet steel then rich, if so I'm sure the 'lump' could be lost with a little surgery

It barely fits a pinto! Be much easier to fit the ls1 in the escort, at least the bay is big enough I'll save that engine for a capri later on hehe

    Re: New Car!

the red light over the axle was all the rage in the late 1970's mate , and those wolfrace slot mags were the wheels to have back then , as well as the wheels and axle lights the car would have had a full fur interior , dash , roof lining , seats , everything covered in the stuff , and a jack up kit on the back , low cars were a no no back then ,

    Re: New Car!

LOL at David... and I agree a nice set of BIG wheels of the right type would bring it bang up to date or just go for some steel rims

    Anyway the slots look good

I remember 2 lads in a princess cruising central bristol ages back jacked up (how ) with a red light onto the back corss beam it.

    Funny how fashions go round.
Used to be Escorts had to be jacked up 2",
now they have to be lowered 2".
    Maybe the roads got better.

Dunno, maybe have to fit a small one on the front, if I fit a big one the writing will stretch across the side windows and take up half the height of the screen Have to sort something though, got to fly the turbosport flag!

    Re: New Car!

Oh and Gary, how do you make the handling so it doesn't scare the crap out of you above 60mph Its been converted to a steering rack (mounted on the back of the crossmember with front bowl sump) and struts with disc brakes (Escort, Cortina?). Back end is leafs, shocks in standard position, some dodgy looking "slightly less" tramp bars, and 2" lowering blocks. I don't want to spend a fortune on it as I'm saving for the Escort so anything for reasonable money or I can nick off the Escort for now?

Richard u madman. that thing is crazy, there is 3 or 4 of them in my unit that a fella is working on. Always saw them as a slow old mans car, but that is bonkers! Top props for driving that thing, I thought my car was loud enough for being yellow, but that thing takes the trophy!

    Re: New Car!

Richard, are your front wheels like the red wheels or blue?

Also do the steering arms point outwards or towards the middle of the car ..

Or do you want to drive it up here?
