I have asked the question...
Russ.
This is the reply from Geoff...
Yes, it did have white revolutions (I still have them & used them once in the early days for wets) and yes, I bought it from Roy Palmer (he was a perfectionist and one of the best all round engineers I have ever met) . I bought it when it was a road car but never drove it on the road. Just after I bought it Classic Ford put out a 5 or 6 page spread on it (the photo shoot and specs were done when Roy owned it) and called it Tex Mex or something? They said it was one of the most expensive road going Mexico re-builds to date. I think they said it was about 18 or 20K which was a lot back then. It was in late 98 I think? - It had a fabulous 1825cc push rod that Roy had built. I bought it only to race it & so I gutted it straight away. What a waste of Roy's effort, all those new parts and a great car????
I don't remember Wayne form WPE??? He may have helped with parts or had something to do with it when it was Roy's (but apart from the shell, 1 door, steering wheel, head and tail lights, it's not really the same car).
I think I changed almost every part on the car - engine, mounts, exhaust system, flywheel, clutch, gearbox, brakes, cross member, steering rack, collapsible column, adjustable ARB, adjustable TCAs, compression struts, front and rear struts, tall turrets, GP4 axle, propshaft, all glass to poly, seats, belts, wiring (I think you have a few of the old car components & most of the loom in your car) , dry sump system, breathers, pumps & cooler, gearbox pump & cooler, axle pump & cooler, and it needs 3 different pressure fuel pumps just to run the engine (I also used fifty thousand feet of 4,6,8,10,12 &16 braided hose and AN fittings.... I might be slightly exaggerating here but it felt like fifty thousand feet when I had to pay for it)
Geoff
ps, John Cross put in the new TCAs, GP4 turrets and 4 link boxes before I shipped it out here & as you know, I added the watts linkage later, he also made the carbon bonnet and various front spoilers. The boot lid (shell) in the picture is f/glass & came from Fibresports, from an original 70s mould . I had the car re-painted again in the states in about 2000

Nick,
The car is a real screamer......I have driven it and I love it...its a little over engineered but thats Geoff for you....
I am glad you were able to see this thread....
Regards,
Russ.
Please sir I WANT SOME MORE!!!!!!! Just foundthis thread and I love it. How about a few updates. Jonny.
Great thread on my old car, yes I know Wayne, have done for many years, but I did all of it myself apart from the paint.
Geoff invited us over to Chicago in 2000 and we had a fantastic time.
Nick, as you mentioned I would love to know if Geoff still has the pushrod motor as that was a gem.
I spent a week with a die grinder porting the head.
cheers
Roy
That's a wicked pic there phillis.
I do not think Geoff still has the pushrod motor....I will check with him...
What I do know is that Geoff and Annie would have made him very welcome...they are the best hosts.

I have E mailed those pics to Geoff.
Russ.
So Nick Mexi-cos & a few people have asked for an update - here's an email from Geoff & a video from inside Geoff's car.
Roy - around 2001 the pushrod was bored to 1845, rebuilt with lighter pistons, new valves and springs but no changes to the build. It was dyno'd for two solid days. First it made 165hp right off the bench, after pushing the timing right out it made 170ish hp and that's about where I think it was when I bought it (remember you pulled the 48's off before I bought it). We re-jetted it and it made an honest 184hp that was recorded on the dyno sheet. I have a 2 door MK1 Cortina(& a 2600 MK1 facelift Capri) I was going to put it in but got a crazy offer for it so I sold it. Now I regret it. Never mind it went into a South African GSM Dart (which definitely weighed less than a J cloth) that won all sorts of SVRA/VSCDA events.
Here's the web site to look at the only race I did this year. http://vimeo.com/34201971
I think the pace car is a challenger. It's at the Autobahn Country Club in Chicago. The race was an Unrestricted Midwestern Council vintage Historic Event (the cars have to be older than 1973). Midwestern Council celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2008, which makes it one of the longest existing amateur racing organizations in the United States. "Council" as it is colloquially named has parallel history to several long-running and historically significant racetracks in the Wisconsin and Illinois area. The group holds regional races at local race tracks including Road America, Blackhawk Farms Raceway, Gingerman Raceway, Grattan Raceway Park, Milwaukee Mile and Autobahn Country Club among others. http://www.autobahncc.com/
Geoff was over here last week....
I was amused to find him popping over to Tipton in The Black Country to obtain two MK1 Golf arches to weld inside the arches on his car....
They were put up against a Mk1 and they do look quite good....at £12 per arch they are a bargain...front or rear could be a cheap arch option...
