Can i fit 6 x 13 wheels with 185 60’s on the back of a Mk1 with std arch lips et16 or et20 wheels I’m looking at???

Aren't / weren't 185/60's the tyres of choice for 6 inch rims back in the day? And those ET's are almost spot on for a 6 inch rim (RS alloys ET19) so i'd say they'd be fine.

Yeah I think so, i know they’re fine on a Mk2 but now have a Mk1 and think the rear arch clearance is less

I thought standard fitment then would be 70 profiles.

Would have been 70 profile originally yes-but 60's were the 'low profile' before the rubber band 50's fashion started.

165 or 175 70’s std, but what I want to know is what fits with 60’s without modifying arch lips

It might be easier to borrow a wheel and tyre of the size you require off a mate to try and then you'll be sure you have enough clearance on the rear wheel arch. Unfortunately you are a bit far off from where I live or you could have borrowed one off me.

Tried on a 7 x 13 et20 with 185 60 today, no chance of them clearing without arch lip mods

I'm not surprised you can't get a 7" rim under them, but I do think you'd get a 6" under them.

Trying on a 7 will give a totally different result though. I'm positive a 6 incher will be fine?

You reckon a 6 with et20 and 185’s will be ok? With 7’s I reckon I’d need to take about 3/4” off the arch lip

13x7 with 195/50/13 et10 fit under standard arches with English axle with a slight arch grind. (5mm, probably could have got away without the grind)

Not really what you are asking, but maybe something to base it off.

I think 13x6 et10 should be fine even with the balloons on.
