Shorter billet steering arms! Escort mk1/2 Capri

Hi guys and girls!

Just thought I’d post about the billet short steering arms I have started producing and selling.
These fit Mk1/2 escort and Capri with the removable style steering arms. They are 25mm shorter than standard with standard Ackerman. Made from 7075 T6 Aluminium they’re a whole lot lighter and better looking than the standard items. They fit the non RS2000 track rod end.

it increases the amount of steering lock, mainly required for drifting

Another dumb question. The steering will of course remain the same amount of turns lock-to-lock, but if the arms are 25mm shorter, will this also give the feel of a quicker rack?

Yes.
But before you fit these make sure the wheel/tyre doesn't foul the arch and/or any suspension component at full lock.

Surely these will make the steering feel heavier than an Escort already is unless it’s fitted with power steering.

As does a quick rack, so the effect will be similar. But used in the application for which they are designed ie. drifting. the caster and / or camber geometries are often radically changed, so nothing like stock handling.

No doubt these arms are used in conjunction with a quick rack by the drifting fraternity. The quality looks good but I won’t be rushing out a buying a pair for my car. I have never been a lover off steering arms that are too strong, in the event of an off something has to absorb the impact, better to bend a steering arm than damage the steering rack.
