    C20xe 7 degrees ????

Do c20xe engines need to be run at 7 degrees, my thoughts say its a packaging issue for FWD, Im running a manta alloy sump and RWD, if I set engine to 7 deg, the bottom of the sump is at 7 deg too, so, by deduction if I set the sump at 0, the top of the engine is at zero too, my gut feeling is run it upright, any thoughts?

the 7* is partly for packaging but also to do with cylinderhead oil drain, the manta sump is designed for the 7* but not for fwd packaging so guess what you want (the manta sump has it's lower surface horizontal with the engine / gasket surface @ an angle to allow the exhaust side to lean lower)

so sump gasket face horizontal and the 'wings' will be at an angle with the inlet side lower.....

^^ maybe not the best description

imho the manta sump is good for a manta, sorta fits a Chevette but in a mk1 or 2 escort its nearly useless due to its shape - the engine wants to sit in the bulkhead

SBD had sump / pickup and 'windage-tray' modification info pages on their website (~15+ years ago when I last used a manta sump

sump position is not an issue, its in a Triumph Tolledo, I am a bit confused by this now, if I put my level on the carbs its on Zero, I think tomorrow I will try a different point to check the engine incline, im not using the carbs for datum,. I have lost count on how many times I have moved this engine around, all for the want of a better exhaust manifold

theres manifolds available for 7* and 'vertical' engine instalations, exhaust manifolds are a different story - from cheap (ish) to serious money (simpson???)

as to fitting in a toledo, sounds interesting

I'm fitting a drysumped XE in a mk1 Mx5 so understand the lack of 'off the shelf' components

Stevie,The thought had crossed my mind and I looked at those turbo things, and had I gone that route the turbo would have been needed too, sorry to say...... SIMPSON, abiet used and pre dented, it has to be far better than the cut down FWD one that was there, I bought the Toledo as a built and running and very tired car, struggling to get pics downloaded,
