Duratec caterham engine question about fueling
Hola, hi guys I'm interested in finding out what induction comes standard from caterham on the duratec engine. I've seen images with jenvey throttle bodies fitted but unsure if these have been retro fitted? Basically I have a duratec with jenveys on and there is a loop hole to which I can use my car again if the engine is produced standard to a car from manufacture. Cheers

Re: Duratec caterham engine question about fueling
nice thinking. i thought they used cosworth roller barrels ? i would ring caterham as there might be more than one option supplied or they may have done several combos.
either way i think they will ban you somehow

Re: Duratec caterham engine question about fueling
Spoken to a scrutineer and if I can prove or provide a brouchure then it's ok to use. Read somewhere about roller barels but unsure. Also need to prove over a thousand made??? Isn't r500 limited edition or some one off? Be a screamer in the lanes and would up set a lot of people down west with 2.4s pintos on splits

Re: Duratec caterham engine question about fueling
Caterhams to my knowledge have never been supplied from the factory with Jenvey's.
The R500 has been supplied for quite some time with roller barrels, either Cosworth or their own ones made by Titan, not sure of the numbers, but they have been supplying them with those for at least 8-10 years

Re: Duratec caterham engine question about fueling
Will have to look into it as will forfeit my entry fee if scrutineers not satisfied that my engine is not 'as supplied standard' which is a pain in the ass as you can run 20v corolla engines in an ae86 and 2.3 4 cylinder m3 engines in any BMW and both came with throttle bodies as standard. I'm unsure how clues ip the scrutineer would be to if the engine has jenveys or roller barrels or if it would make that much difference.
If I do manage to get a run there will be a lot of complaints as to this possible loophole.

Re: Duratec caterham engine question about fueling
Pretty well the same spec engine as CSR260, mostly now with Raceline internals (cams, dry sump etc). THink they got rid of the Cossie stuff as too expensive and sumps not the most relaible

Re: Duratec caterham engine question about fueling
What is a csr 260 guys? Excuse my lack of knowledge with the caterham. Is/was this a mass produced car and you wouldnt happen to know if over a 1000 made? Thanks for all your help peeps

Re: Duratec caterham engine question about fueling
That would be ideal if you could get round scrutineering with throttle bodies. You should contact Msa and see what they have to say

Re: Duratec caterham engine question about fueling
Well I have spoken to a scrutineer and as I said above if can prove it then it's fine. Just need to find proof. Caterhams website not working or some reason??? The msa are a nightmare to get an official answer out of as have spoken to them several times before regarding being able to run my mk1 escort L model etc with rs2000 stripes and they said the same thing- prove it was an option when new( slightly off the subject sorry) but basically got to find proof off 1000 plus made and throttle bodies werestandard. I know I'm a pain butwould love to do another road rally. Thanks again

Re: Duratec caterham engine question about fueling
Hi peeps, I have contacted caterham themselves to answer my questions and they were good enough to send me a reply email (top blokes) stating that the factory cars were never fitted with jenveys as a production model ( roller barrels only as you guys mentioned) and have sold less than a 1000 cars. This is the required number to be classed as a production model I think. Thanks for all your help
