    Joe @ GSM Cossie Anglia

Got Joes car in for some work, he bought the car minus a gearbox tunnel and the bulkhead has allready been moved, the car came painted along with the bubbles.

I've got on his list, re-do the bulkhead, fit gearbox tunnel, prop and diff tunnels, turrets, 5 link, cage and some small restoration bits.

    Heres some snaps

Just such a shame everyone keeps trying to turn their Anglias into escorts instead of just enjoying them as Anglias and all that that brings with it.

Nice bit of Gary-Fab though !

Air injectors are like fuel injectors but they pass air instead of fuel basically. Im sure there is a much better way of describing them, but what do i know

Its basically a more precise boost/actuator control method...and they are very dear!! If im right they stopped making the injectors a few years back so they command good money. Also some people run 2 sets of them just incase the main set fail!

Its nothing to do with the internals of the engine!!

All they do is open and close the wastegate to control the boost. Think they originated on the wrc cars, particularly the escort cossies and so it became a tuning must have

Re: Joe @ GSM Cossie Anglia

those wheels look awesome tucked up in the arches

off topic, but informative (not my info)

"The air injectors have an input to the top of them from the turbocharger and an output on the bottom to the wastegate. The injectors are wired to the ecu so they can be controlled.

The ecu air injector map is mapped against boost, rpm and air temperature. The injectors initially stay closed, keeping the wastegate closed too, encouraging the turbo to spin to speed as fast as possible. When the desired turbocharger pressure is aquired during mapping, the injectors are pulsed so that they open at that point, allowing air to flow to the wastegate. This of course opens the gate, bypassing some exhaust gas from the turbine wheel, slowing the compressor and leveling or dropping the boost pressure depending entirely of course on how much air we allow through. The beauty of this system is we can use a relatively weak actuator to achieve very large boost levels and we can accurately program boost curves into the system.

    Any downsides?
Yes, if the injectors fail, due to the “Bleed On” configuration, the turbo will run whatever boost it can until something either stops it or something fails due to the fact we have blocked the pipe to the actuator."

Alan matey above me explained it spot on but in simple terms starts making boost at 2200 rpm and on full boost at 3500 and with the right cams loads of torque as well as horses thats why i use air inj.

So whats the dfference between an amal valve and air injection they both control the air to the wastegate via an electric signal from the ECU

right a amal valve bleeds air to atmo air inj keep shut till the desired boost is reached hence it comes on boost quicker.
