    Fitting 2.8i struts to a MK1 escort

I was able to get a pair of 2.8i struts for my MK1 Track car. I have been told there are other items that need addressed; such as the
    • Cross-member,
    • Control arms
    • Brakes,
    • Top mounts
    • Anything else?
    • Spring length and rates

    Can anyone provide details?

Was it ever a topic on Classic ford Mag, if so can anyone remember issue?

    Thanks
    James

cross member will work as standard
track control arms will work as standard
      brakes will work as standard
top mounts will work as standard

However as this is a track car all that will probably be changed for uprated and adjustable kit.

      rose jointed track control arms
uprated brakes fill your boots here start at AP and work downwards on price
      rose jointed top mounts
convert to 2 1/4 springs with adjustable platforms
      alloy hubs

it is really what you think you need to do. The 2.8i strut really these days is a bit of myth. It used to be a bolt on quick upgrade for road cars all the kit you need can be bought new off the shelf for a track car. Have a look at GAZ gold struts which can be bought new and complete etc. A good start is GRP4 fabrications, Motorsport tools, RACE in stoke on trent UK and many more suppliers all will ship to the states.

I have some of this done to my car if you need pics but it never started out as a track car or was intended to be one.
