cosworth will not start when hot

Hi has anyone got any ideas on my 3dr cossy . i got it back from having coilovers and gpa speedlines fitted .the fuel was very low but i got it to petrol station and filled it up, drove it home about 3 miles switch it off went to restart it and it just wound over but would not start . so i pushed it in the garage put it on charge and in the morning it started no problem . now when i start it from cold it starts fine , go for a drive and its fine . I go about 5 miles come home park it on the drive switch it off and try to restart and it just winds over on the key , i leave it 5 mins and it will start . if anybody has any ideas i would be greatfull thanks rcmex

the fuel pump relay is yellow and is below the ecu cover underneath the dashboard hope that helps.

could be the ect sensor at the back of the head on the right [blue sensor] tells ecu when engine hot or cold

or just a dud battery like ive just had....

when u go to click 2 (before u crank it) can you hear the fuel pump prime up and the idle valve start clicking....?

what voltage is the battery when its sat not running and what is it when it is running?

Hi thanks for the replys . Dave my battery does go flat in a week . just tryed the car again when i turn key to p2 it clicks but no buzz from feul pump but it starts and runs fine . If i leave it running untill the fans cut in and turn it off it will not start , i leave it 10 mins and it will start so im a bit lost on what it is any more help would be good thanks rcmex

sounds like a bit of heat soak try phase sensor ,ign amp then coil ,crank sensor ,i have had a few where it is the phase sensor doing this

Can you hear the pump running when it wont start? if not try bridging the relay and see if it runs then.

You may have introduced some dirt from the tank into the pump if you run it really low if the pump was tired anyway it may of sent it over the top.
if the pump is seized when hot they normally make a thud when you turn the key, you might not hear it in the car so get a friend to listen or hold it.

Pull a plug and see if you have a spark whan it dosnt run.

If it was a magor sensor the ECU light would come on.

thanks for the replys everyone i think fuel pump and filter may be the cause . The pump does buzz when it will not start , but the strange thing is it does not buzz when it is cold but it will start . Yesterday i drove the car about 10 miles and at a roundabout it cut out , after half an hour it started ran fine for 6 to8 miles went to pull away from another roundabout and it done it again . if this helps as its a bit embarrising sat there trying to start it . clint i will fill out my profile thanks for the help rcmex
