Sideways is the best way.
i would be inclined to avoid using one, they can be very temprimental and if you dont look after them properly they are prone to just giving up the ghost, why not consider a motorcycle battery some of the big bikes these days have quite large in capacity terms ones i've seen several caterhams on bike batteries and they are a lot cheaper than the racing batteries
il look into that mate, cheers!

Graham is right, the cheaper end of dry-cells can be a bit iffy, and any drycell if run flat has to be charged real gently, slowly trickeled... jumping from a big battery with high amps can also cause damage. Varley, DMS are good and i've had a few running in Jensens for years, Dave Whites is probaly 3 years old and now lives in Andy Pipes car. If your using the car a lot, then go for a 25-30.. I've seen these last 10 years plus.
Tyr ringing Claire at PLR ...
yeah it was a varley 20 i was looking at.
its only really gona be used for track use, hill climbs etc... so should be ok.
cheers retro, always got an informed answer much appreciated!!
