yes mate , yours is on the pace for sure and it handles so you should thake it . Is it road legal as well ? The skylines and gtir's are sooooo fast though , 10 sec quarters and they handle !!!!! Will be a good specticle for sure , i'll be there cheering on the old skool posse .........
Sounds like it would be fun if TS got a team together
http://www.totb.co.uk/what-is/
just emailed the guys at ten of the best about putting a team together, so hopefully will get a reply soon pray:
cheers lee
When is it
you guys should have a go, but be under no illusions.
all the jap stuff is savagely quick.
you boys are going to need some fuck off turbos to get anywhere near this lot!
the handling could work in you favour though.

Having been to few TOTB's, the big boys DO trailer their cars there (anyone see the Roger Clarke Suburu with icelandic driver in an edition of EVO? running 9sec/8s on slicks) Im on the honda crx forum too and a couple of those guys do fairly well in the handling circuit (+350bhp) but Andy Nicholls in his rover 200 with 800hp (in this months PPC mag) wins the 1/4. I know they are FWD but suppose it gives you an idea.
I would say you need a high 9 or 10sec car to be a contender. I dunno if thats possible? ps. Surely someone has started a Duratec Turbo project???? Or would a cossie be the favourite in an old skool??
I missed this years but will definately be there for next.
we are pretty deternined to get to totb this year, we have mk1 escort going together now, plenty of time to test it, its gonna be over 500hp at the flywheel, here is norris evo on handling track, first is warm up then proper, his car broke after second run but he held the time all day till a kit type dax car knocked a real small amount of time off it.
Im not a great lover of that evo,if i had spent £100k + on a car i would want it to do at least 8 seconds quarters
cant realy compeate with people who spend 100k on there cars,i mean for 100k+ u could get a savage mk1/2escort built for that
Lots of odd comments here....
The event basically is, as long as they can produce an MOT certificate, insurance and the car is taxed, they allow it in.
Must be a fair few dodgy MOT garages out there is all I can say !!!!!
NO TUB's allowed, so that does rule out some drag orientated cars.
For 2007, No slicks, and NO wrinkle wall tyres. MT DR's, BFG, Nitto etc will be allowed though, as well as any E marked tyre.
There will also be a specific drag class this year too, where wrinkle wall tyred drag cars can enter.
Race fuel....most use it, and its a difficult one to police.
Trailered race cars....dont get me started on that In fact, race fuel, stripped out ARRGHHHH I hate em all !!! Pansies
If you ever see my car on a trailer, its broke !!!!
PF usually do try and get a team together....but always struggle to get 10 cars. Did they even have 5 this year ???
SO while they may make bold claims about who can enter, maybe it would be better to have 10 lesser cars, than none at all.
Some of the cars alreayd mentioned have made it there in the past....didnt make it too far up the track though.
So its no use having a fast car, if it isnt going to be reliable enough to actually take part. It would efo be good to see some retro cars at the event, but it does get busier each year. So who knows if Chris can find the time to let them run.
Pretty sure he is trying to kull some of the skyline entries etc. I think there was something ridiculous like 23 of them last year.
And AL....£100k wouldnt even look at some of the cars. Some of the Skylines, Norris Evo, Roger Clarks cars etc.....they would be well in excess of £100k, and wouldnt be surprised if some are double that.

I was wondering if any cars from here were still trying to go, 2 months without a post on the thread doesn't look promising!
Have we got anyone entered?
66 Mustang
Ive already been there every year bar one about 2 years ago lol, and thats only because my old engine expired in the Isle of Man 2 weeks before the event....
Last year ( 2006 ) I was actually 8th overall in the top speed. How ridiculous is that !!!!!!!!!!!!
And 18th overall on points !
I think finding entry for 10 cars may be difficult, but Im sure that if there was a field of retro cars, that were proven performers, it would be great to see them mix it with the modern stuff.
Most wont be capable of performing in the top speed run, but in the handling and 1/4's they could still do well.
Quite often, hale the entries dont take part on all 3 disciplines anyway, which IMO is pointless of them wasting a valuable entry space for someone who does want to.

Yes steve take yours , Kev warns mk2 rs2000 , puddys mk2 cortina , terry davis mk2 escort and then you'll upset a few of the modern jap stuff with these boys at your side . Kevs mk2 should run 10's and it handles , terry davis does run 10's at 145 mph and puddys will handle and has got 500+ bhp . GO GET EM FELLA'S
The surface at Elvington is nowhere near as grippy as Santa Pod, and there are no slicks allowed.
At best, some DOT Drag RADIAL tyres will be allowed in the road classes.
NO Wrinkle wall DOT tyres will be allowed in the road class.
So you can easily knock a few tenths of a Santa Pod time for the same tyres. If you need to use a lesser tyre, then knock even more time off that again.

Loving the video of the granny doing a low ten! spot on!
www.rallycarsforhire.net
i seen that granada at totb this/last year what a weapon, we thought it was somebodys run around till we heard it on handing course, top dollar..
Cheers....I only got 2 laps, which was a bit crap, but the day was moving fast, and the queue so slowly.
I'll get some R888's for the handling track this year. That should knock a fair bit of time off...although again, within the rwd class, I did surprisingly well I thought, on normal road tyres.

were gonna have our escort at ten of best this year, it will be finished, loved your granny real crowd pleaser
Yes take them all but if slicks are banned then we best take some Pintos as they will be faster !!!!!!!!
No slicks.
Mickey T Drag Radials, Nitto's and BFG DR's are the only DOT tyres allowed.
Those and any MSA road tyres ( basically anything with legal tread and E-marked )

I have used yokohama AO48's before, they are a road legal tyre. I will have to see if i can afford to do it still this year. The house has taken over my money and the car has taken a back seat.
hi everyone
i have just received an email from chris mann who said that they are looking at spaces for new clubs who are entering totb this year. he has asked if we can put a team of ten cars together with a list of owners, make of cars
and bhp as soon as possible, this does not however mean that they will allocate turbo sports ten spaces.
anyone who is still interested could you please start a list with the above details and i shall then email chris with the details.
cheers lee
c'mon you lads with the big guns.
quite frankly your cars will get maximum respect from most. everyone has had/knows someone who has had a variety of old fords. they will be loved, even if not th quickest.
i reckon it would be fantastic.
www.rallycarsforhire.net
I normally just go as an invite entry.
But it would be fitting of there was a Retro team, that could maybe offer a little opposition.
As I'll probably be going regardless.

How much does this event cost in total? Like signing on fee's and entrance fee's?
a nice grp4 escort in experienced hands could do some serious damage on the handling course.
www.rallycarsforhire.net
Entry fee is usually £85.
BUT, that does also include entry for one other person which usually costs circa £15-20, and you also get a free copy of the DVD when its done ( normally retails at £20 or so I think. )
its a fair amount of money, but not mega bucks.
Depending on how much racing you do, £20-30 of fuel should be adequate.

Cheers Steve, I see you have to drive from Ireland. And i have to come from Essex, santa pod is about 90 miles from me,and york is about 250 miles. I may need to borrow your comfy granada passenger seat to bolt in mine for the journey That bucket seat of mine does yer legs in after a few miles
That less than your average trackday and much more fun with the competitive element. bargain.
www.rallycarsforhire.net
were going but props private entry gonna try and get van there this year too its got 700 tommyfield horses and seq box need to see if 1/4 times quick enuf 1st. hope we do all show the jap money up. gp4 escort should handle preety good, m8s a rally driver and he volunteered himself to drive scort, van probs wont handle fast enough to be competitive but its such a crowd pleaser that it wont matter, good luck to every one off here who even tries.. go old school yer
i will check on the entry price and let you know, but if its still about £85 it sounds a bargin to me.
chris needs the names and cars of teams entering as soon as possible to make sure that there are enough spaces for the turbo sports team.
