    Re: my new nova

Well i bit the bullet and bought some compbrake 4 pots ,discs and bells but they dont fit, the pads hit the caliper mounting brackets

I have been waiting to get a new cwp ,this came on thursday so i got it fitted on friday so we could fit the engine and box on saturday

i feel as though we are getting somewhere now ,a couple more weekends and i might be ready for some testing

Will do Matt hopefully this will be the end of your teething problems, other than similar head problems ,mine used to take loads of abuse, regularly reving to over 8k with no problems, when we stripped it down we found it only had standard rod bolts still held together ,not sure how

    Re: my new nova

Only a little progress Tom ,fitted the brakes and bled them re fitted the carbs but still wont run properly ,i think its the fuel pump so im going to buy a new one as it previously used to run up to pressure and cut off ,but it just keeps running now even when the car isnt running so once i have fitted a new one Andy is going to come round and adjust the carbs ,i have also got to find a new throttle cable as mine is knackered

Cheers Paul hopefully it will end up half as nice as your new Ka

You're in class E then, I don't know about not competing with "us" I would think that a well sorted/driven 1400 Nova would be a match for my car and probably some of the others in class D ( I only started racing last year BTW)

Your right Nick the car should be competitive but i have never raced or driven on slicks and have only managed 2 full trackdays so its going to be one steep learning curve

You may be better off racing with the intermarques to start with,I did the last round in 2008 and it was excellent so much so I'm mixing DMN and inters this year

Is it right you have to run road tyres in the intermarques as i have only got slicks wets and inters for the 13 inch wheels and haven,t really got the funds for road tyres, i will just give DMN a go ,not really epecting to much and see what happens

Intermarques are allowed slicks,tin-tops run on road tyresEntry fees are a bit less for the inters than DMN too.

Went to HT,s today to put the car on the rollers, made almost exactly the same power it made before its freshen up 114bhp and93lbft thought it might of made a bit more as its had a fair bit of work block decked and porting of the inlet manifold etc but no it wont make any more power after 6400 but the cam should be good for 8kand altering the cam timing didnt seem to make much differencelooks like the minis will be leaving me behind on the straights,i will just have to try harder in the bends

Who's rollers did it go on before the freshen up? Do you know the compression ratio? It should be capable of 130+ bhp.

I think that you'll probably find that HTs rollers read differently so I wouldn't worry about the actual figures
