    NA Zetec to 250bhp?

    HI All,

Jut planning out the Zetec install in m mk1 Escort d saw tht soe of you were taking 250bhp with an NA blacktop.

Just wondering what sort of setup is required to get to this. Would be happy with this kind of output and won't worry about turbo then.

    Cheers,

    Shags

Cams, rods, pistons, headwork. TB's and decent ECU. Dry sump wouldn't go amiss as std. oil pumps don't like high rpm apparently!

    Re: NA Zetec to 250bhp?

Dunnell still use the std rods and Pistons upto 240bhp in a zetec all be it with machining for valve cut outs

    NA Zetec to 250bhp?

An st170 motor with a cleaned up head and pair of cams will top 200 on tb's etc
Or with an ecu that will drive the vct it will come close with a std motor using ate throttle bodies

    Re: NA Zetec to 250bhp?

Very nice although its driving the wrong wheels LOL!
But seriously, the cost of that against a simple low boost modern turbo install is night & day! Drop the compression a bit to 9.5:1, GT3076R turbo and 8-10psi boost = 300hp
all day long. Even a GT28R will hit the original target @ 1/2bar boost and be as responsive as you want.
I know its not what the OP wanted but it is easy power these days.

Totally agree with you on power.. The cost of the engine is silly when you get to that level... Turbo is the best way

Yeah but they ain't gonna fit in the same space! I could have said 'fit my bike engine - 370hp and weighs a third of a Zetec and includes a gearbox! Keep it real - apples for apples.
