    Cosworth 24v Questions

how many versions of this engine are they?

What are the standard engine outputs?

Since the engine was based on the Taunus/Cologne Engine Can a 2300 base model engine(from the cortina etc) be used to make a 2300 24v?

    Have a damaged 2.9 24v n good 2300 engine.

    thanks.

    Re: Cosworth 24v Questions

the 2.3 engine had a smaller bore than the 2.8/2.9 on which the 24v is based so it may not be possible because the combustion chambers might end up overhanging the bores, and i suspect the loss of 600cc would result in a very low compression

2 Versions of the 24v. BOA and BOB. BOA in the earlier Granada Cosworths, and BOB in the later Ultima/Scorpio Cosworths - Thicker block, different cams/plenum/ECU.

BOA approx 195bhp stock. More if you De-cat, and swap for a better ECU it seems. Lots of benefits to fitting BOB cams if you can get them. Easier to fit/setup than BOB engine due to being EECIV.

BOB approx 205 - 210 stock. Harder to tune, but probably getting more available now. If it were me, i'd get one, bin all the EEC etc, and stick on a mappable ECU and wire it up to that properly.

    Re: Cosworth 24v Questions

lots of differences in the block between the old colognes and the 24v so a 2.3 conversion would be difficult, not to say its impossible as a few guys are building 4 litre versions using the american Explorer block (i've seen ohc and ohv versions being used) its not a bolt on job though, plenty of machining needed and things like the dizzy drive goes the wrong way round to work the oil pump etc etc.

    Re: Cosworth 24v Questions

There are loads of differences between the 12v and 24v blocks, there was a previous post covering it here http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthread.php?t=97643
The manual pictured is for a BOA engine
