1970 Mk1 Escort Tarmac Rally Car
that gives you 112.5 cfm @10" which equates to not a bad, but nothing great head, flow figures alone wont tell you how much power you will get, but from 2.0 assuming all else is pretty good your probably see 190-195bhp
hi graham
yes we aimed for low to mid lift flow on this head
it better than the other 2 heads i had on here
thanks graham.
hi graham
the short turn is still round at bottom of the port. i havent taken any metal off the corners to make it look like a d shape i dont want to lose any mid lift flow by taking metal out of the corners. will i loss mid lift flow by taking metal out of corners cheers mario.
Will widening the short turn on the inlet port bring up port flow from .300 lift to .500 has any one tryed this cheers mario.
widening the the short turn Will pick up flow especially at high lift, but i dont remember at what point you start to gain flow, but i do know if you not going to use port filler or a 1600 head its the way to go on a race head, it was a trick showed to me by dave walker that he used to use on his race heads back in the 80's
Hi graham cheers mario.
cant find any pinto figures, but these are 3 bmw m10 heads which have many similarities to a pinto, second and 3rd set have had corners of short turn reworked/lowered all @10" cam/valve lift is critical, extending lift on 3rd set of figures gave much more flow, in fact one bmw head i got airflow upto about 140cfm, but needed 2mm more valve lift than was possible

Hi Graham its a carby head air speed in port is 295 cfm and around 250 cfm around valve port runner is left standard size which is 36mm .will that affect top end power or should i make them larger at 38mm like a injection head.

Head flowed at 28" Cam lift will be .500 lift what hp figures will this head make , compression is at 12:1 what camshaft will work with these flow figures cheers Mario.
Would have thought about 180ish hp if everything is working properly
hi warren what camshaft do you recommend cheers mario
thought i answered this last night at home maybe my laptop didnt upload the post?
anyways you have enough flow for 200 bhp perhaps more, but that doesnt mean you will see 200bhp, it also looks like to get the most from it you need more valve lift, so perhaps the port shape needs revisiting?
IIRC its for drag racing, so perhaps a kent RC31
Hi graham what port shape should I aim for
I've done some more porting on my pinto heads these are my flow figures on both heads
Head1. Head 2
100 lift 70. 78
200 lift139. 136
300 lift165. 177

500 lift 189. 184
