i thought it was 2.3
pretty sure there is one in 2.5 form, from the Ranger... possibly only avaliable in the US. think it also has a balence bar thing which isnt great for tuning.... but then i could be wrong
Isn't the ranger a low comp SUV/truck engine? Iirc it's not very good for tuning purposes
67 TVR VIXEN V8
in classic ford this month it says that cosworth will be working on a 2.5 engine soon
montune do one and sbd do a crank set im sure the all have same bore just difrent stroke crank
i heard it was a 2.5 in standard form
Yeah I heard it was in the Trannie
But found this on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Duratec_engine
Duratec 25
The Duratec 25, or Duratec 2.5L I-4, is an evolution of the Duratec 23. 'Duratec 25' should not be confused with the similarly named 2.5L V6 Ford Duratec. The new Duratec 25 is an inline 4-cylinder engine design that is identical to the Mazda MZR 2.5L. The bore and stroke have increased to 89mm x 100mm and as such now displaces 2488cc | 151ci. Power has been increased to 171hp@6000rpm and 171lb-ft@4500rpm torque. A Hybrid Duratec 25 will be replacing the Hybrid Duratec 23.
Fuel saving features include adaptive knock control and aggressive deceleration fuel cutoff.[3]

The 2.5l Duratec is a bored and stroked 2.3l Duratec. With the bores taken out another 1.5mm and the stroke increased by 6mm. Which makes the block 17mm taller than the 2.0l Duratec, might be too tall for a car installation.
Any experience on the 2.5 stoker kits? From 2.0 to 2.5.
Would be interrested to know the stroke and the lenght of the connection rod.
This taller block would allow for a much better crank ratio. And with the all steel bottom end and a dry sump kit would perhaps be the recipe for a mega power atmo.
Suitable for my escort and here we come Class A....
Has anyone had time to check out the 2.5 with regards to the sump kits water rail kits engine mount kits and gearboxes do the 2.3l parts fit onto the 2.5.
the desisions are getting harder should i just stick to my 2.3l out of a ford mondao just to keep the car all ford.

Bottom line it should all fit, but if in doubt give Pete McEwan of Raceline a call (don't email) and he will know

Thanks Dubuy, I did read your post dated 26-11-08 i was just wondering if anyone has fitted used or played tuning in the last 2 years.
Bit more info on the 2.5L.
Here in Australia they are found in the new Mazda 6 and the Mazda SP25. Note the Mazda versions has a vvt head while most Ford equivalent offerings don't.
