interesting an 318is engine, out of an e36 from the look of the inlet manifold, does the std 4 branch bmw exhaust manifold still fit? and what did you do with the sum?, it would of had a front well from memory

yeah its a e36,the bmw 4 branch exhaust manifold is standerd and the sump as the bowl to the rear,ad to move engine bck 2inch for the sump to clear the crossmember and so that the standard escort colum would fit

    Re: mk2 wi bmw engine

engine & box is out of a k reg car without the chip key u only need 3 wires to get this engine running with the injection on it,its got a bmw loom with the ecu & exhaust manifold with down pipe witch you have to exstend 2",prop needs fettle to fit,the clocks are mk2 but with the oil, batt n rev counter wires joined to them from the engine loom.engine mounts were made by my m8 james who also did the tunnel & gearbox mount(TOP CHAP)the tunnel has to be cut out rite back coz the bm prop sits high up but the engine its self is about 2" back so that the sump fits just rite & u have to move the handbrake to one side.u put a shorter fanbelt on coz u take the powerstering pump off (QBR61513) the bm radiator fits with the hoses ok other bits you just sort as you go along.

the 318 is was never a quick car imo, but that lump in a mk 2 should be a pretty nippy car good to see people using alternative engines on here and you cant beat the bmw's reliability but i personally would have gone for the straight 6 from an e30 325 with a slipper = tons of fun!!

Hi mate, not doing this to diss you or owt, but you aint the first.................good job on keeping the BMW theme though.

This was my old Sunbeam, 945kgs, 400bhp..........

I also knew a fell that had fitted an S14 (E30 M3 engine) into a Mark 2, he also had installed it in the upright position which had caused some major issues.

Looks real good though mate, also, engines are peanuts now!
