Does anybody know how far the piston is down the bore on a standard 2.0L SOHC Pinto engine?

About .030 thou.

id say a bit less than that but usually more than 0.020, unless its a low comp engine

My recollection from a couple of builds are that curiously on a standard unskimmed block the pistons were 0.25mm below deck and had stamped on them sp 0.25

Another build using Cosworth rods and V6 pistons had sp 0.382 which I mated to a heavily skimmed head to get the requisite compression ratio

Maybe that one was a low compression van motor?
