Hello,

Does anyone own a Capri 1968 workshop manual.

I have only German laungage and I cant read German that good.

So English version would save me a lot of translating with the dictionarry in hand.
It is under Group 9 Page 19

Would like to set the carb up as it needs to be and use all thinker tricks possible

Well all i can say is adjust the idle screw till you have some sort of idle, then adjust the mixture screw till you get the fastest idle. You will be very close then.
Otherwise take it to someone who knows.

IIRC the V4 Cologne engine wasn't available in the UK, so sadly there isnt' probably any english info on the TDID in the Workshop Manuals

was the v4 not an essex engine?

it came as either an essex or cologne, ford only used the essex in the uk, although saab fitted the colonge in the last of the 96models, the cologne looks a bit weird because like its v6 brother it has Siamesed exhaust ports so on the V4 these only one exhaust pipe coming out each side of the engine

Yeah it looks a bit smaller than cafe grinder. Really dont know what they were thinking. Will slowly start translating german instructions word by word.

The Taunus V4 was a V4 piston engine with one balance shaft, introduced by Ford Motor Company in Germany in 1962. The German V4 was built in the Cologne plant and powered the Ford Taunus and German versions of the Granada, Capri and Transit. It is sometimes considered not to be a 'true' V engine as two opposing pistons do not share a crankpin on the crankshaft.

The V4 was later expanded into the Ford Cologne V6 engine that was used in the Ford Capri, Ford Taunus, Ford Cortina, Ford Consul, Ford Granada, Ford Sierra, Ford Scorpio, Ford Ranger, Ford Explorer and many other cars. The V4 engine was (and still is) also used in industrial applications: pumps, electrical generators, and in agricultural machinery. In automobiles, the Taunus V4 was replaced by the Ford OHC/Pinto engine.
