xe misfire and crank sensor issue
I run xe on omex ECU in my mk2 , was running fine for a few days until it started to mis. started to do funny things like stop then and wouldnt start, and on removal of plug 1 would find no spark , but then after churning over second time spark would spark and she would fire up but still with a mis. Every time it stopped unless i had spark plug out and earthed on rocker cover i could churn it over for 10 mins but start ! I have changed crank sensor as i have heard they are prone to new one but find the only one to work is the original metal bosch one. Although the newer plastic one does register as i can hear the ecu turn on fuel relay there is no spark ! Any one has ideas ?

Re: xe misfire and crank sensor issue
Could be a bad earth, though sounds like coilpack or it's wiring?
Not much else it can be really
unless ecu's gone down in some way

Re: xe misfire and crank sensor issue
Thanks , i tried another (new ) coil pack last night and she fired up pretty quick. Maybe the other coil was breaking down , but still good enough to give spark now and again. Took car out for run only to go 10 mtrs and bosch fuel pump failed ! the next one will be third one i put in this car !

Re: xe misfire and crank sensor issue
if you have problems with bosch fuel pumps failing you probably have muck in the tank, it only takes the smallest bit of crap to jam them, youd prob be wise to install a filter to filter the fuel going into the pump

Re: xe misfire and crank sensor issue
Not using a suction filter won't help, lol.
I use a facet red top pump with a small inline filter on the pump suction, and big bowl filter on delivery side.
How are you setting your fuel pressure?
Hopefully new pump+ revised filter system will cure it, though u should probably remove and clean jet assemblies , carb float needles and float bowls to completely eliminate these as causes should probs continue
