My MK1 RS2000 replica for sale

    .......possibly.

I'm at the point where I'm seriously thnking about selling my MK1.

I'm just not using it - I've done just over 300 miles in the last couple of years and currently it's covered up in the back of my workshop. The wife hates it and refuses to be seen in it and I'm too old to go out pissing around in it. I'm looking to get a more sensible toy that I'll actually be able to get some use from so I'm currently thinking of getting a large super scooter - Honda Silverwing, Suzuki Burgman or a Gilera GP800 and I just can't justify spending a large chunk of cash on a bike and have the car sitting there doing nothing.

Anyway, heres the restoration thread, its basically the same as in the last pic. http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthre...attle-commence!

I'm looking for about £7K for it but may be open to offers. Feel free to tell me if that's over optimistic but it has cost me more than that to build. Not in a rush to sell so if no interest on here I might consider giving it a try on ebay later on in the year.

Any interest or questions, PM me.

    Steve

Someone will get a bargin there Steve, if you have to sell go luck, but if you don't I would keep it as it will only go up in value.
This should sell very quick at that price as well, excellent car for the money

Re: My MK1 RS2000 replica for sale

    Thanks for your comments.
For those that have PM'd me, heres the brief spec.

    Bodywork as per resto thread

2.0 Cosworth block, crank, rods, forged pistons and lligtened flywheel. Probably done less than 1500 miles from when I bought it - new pistons and liners
Alloy sump, eng mounts, h/p oil pump
Big Valve head. Block skimmed, felpro head gasket.
    Kenlowe fan kit
    FR32 cam kit and vernier
    twin 40's, 4 branch Ex
    Vacuumless dissy
    Quick rack
    2.8i front struts and brakes
    Braided brake hoses
RS2K rear axle, 9" brakes, 3.54 diff, anti tramp bars
5 speed box with alloy bellhousing and quickshift stick
    Polybushed rear springs
    Battery in boot
    Red top facet fuel pump
    RS turbo recaro's
    Std vinyl back seat
    Top tint laminated front screen
Always been garaged so bodywork as good as the day it was painted
R/C alarm and seperate deadlocks to doors.
Battery cut-out and a couple of fire extinguishers - one inside and one in boot.
Comes with a few spares inc Capri 2.8i 5 speed box
Interior averageish - if I was keeping I'd probably fit a new headlining and carpet.
Laser alloys with V good tyres fitted but alloys have 'powdered' a bit while its been standing, would need a good clean/polish up to look better. Unused spare
Very slight cracking to dash top
Pictures wont show much of interior you'd need to have a look for yourself
Car is at my workplace in Forest Gate, East London
    Taxed till end Aug
Will have new mot before sale.

    Hi,
Had a look at the build and pics on photobox. Worth every penny of £7k in this condition. Just look at some of the sheds on ebay that need major work and owners want a fortune for them.

Im going to check my lottery numbers. fingers crossed.

    Great car

    Steve
What did the car start as? Do you have V5 log book and how many owners does this show? What BHP do you think this is putting out? When would I be able to view?

    Thanks

Re: My MK1 RS2000 replica for sale

The car started as a base 1100, I have the V5 logbook and it is showing the correct cosworth engine number and cc's. 5 previous owners and I bought it in April 2003. Before the BV head and vernier pulley was fitted a few years ago it only showed 110 bhp on a TS dyno run, disappointing, but it hadn't been set up at all. Again, if I was keeping it I'd get a proper electronic ignition set-up and have it set up on a rolling road. I'd expect it to be about 125+ if properly set up. Not a flying machine by any standards but keeps up well with modern traffic. Can be viewed most days after about 3.30 or possibly evening/weekend by arrangement but as its at work I'd rather people looked at it during the afternoons as I live 45 mins away. I can be contacted on 07860 223322 - evenings, when I am at home, I have a very poor mobile reception though!

Re: My MK1 RS2000 replica for sale

Well, it was up for sale on Friday, sold on Monday, I put a deposit down on Thursday and picked this up on the Saturday. Had it 8 years and it went in a week.

    Here's its replacement:

My wife (who never liked the Escort, or any classic I've owned) reckons the 'ped has come with a personalised plate for me - EJ11T** (IDIOT)! . Women. She hates the ped just as much but I don't feel such a nana going out on that on my own.

Already done more miles in one weekend than I did in the Escort in 2 years so no regrets - at the moment!

Yep, a big boys 650cc 'ped than can out-accelerate and go faster than the Escort ever could.

This it what it is actually underneath when all the 'tupperware' is removed:

Most of my mates have got big bikes but I'm not really into them, I like a bit of comfort and prefer to just twist 'n' go! At the end of the day I was just storing and looking at the Escort, didn't get the chance to use it and probably never would as my circumstances have changed. It's gone to a good home and I'm sure the new owner will be making good use of it anyway so it's a win-win as far as I'm concerned. In truth, I think I got more enjoyment out of getting an old classic back on the road with a few extra's.

Now, with a toy I can actually get more use and pleasure from, I'm a very happy nana indeed!

Re: My MK1 RS2000 replica for sale

lol. Just reading through some of my old threads - where has the time gone?

Had plenty of fun on the 'ped'. Had a couple of trips abroad in it - Monaco and Lake Garda before selling it and trading up to a FJR1300 and doing even more trips. Sold that a few years ago as I was literally only using it for one trip a year. These days I find it better to do a fly-ride. Last trip in 2021, me and four mates flew to Malaga and picked up some fully kitted BMW GS1250's and had a guided tour. A lot less stress than riding there and just hop on a plane and you're home in a couple of hours!
