Just taken head off my xflow and noticed marks on the recess part of the crown on one Piston. Looks like valve contact but valves have no damage. Do you think it'll be ok, or does it mean piston replacing? Cheers
Piston will be ok. Valve will be ok. You may have a slightly bent pushrod, but you'd never notice it in general use. You probably need deeper cut-outs in the pistons, but a quick easy fix is just to cut the valve seat a little lower on that particular valve. Are your valve springs strong enough? You may have valve bounce at high rpm. If it's not an all out competition engine you would never notice the slightly lower flow on the valve with the lower seat.
yes thats valve/piston contact. what cam are you using if its a BCF3 thats the problem, the piston catalogs say you don't need to deepen the cutouts for a bcf3 but you do. the piston wont need changing, but you will need to machine it, or sinkk the valves deeper into the head ( not ideal) or fit a milder cam
hello wont let me to reply to your pm message its about the 1660 crossflow its still in an escort so wont take a lot to start up and i dont really no about the history of the engine
