Just bought a 771 mk1 xr2 engine and was wondering if it would bolt straight into a mk2 escort?

Not easily .................. casting is differant so you cant bolt the engine mounts for a rwd onto a fwd block.
Oh sh*t bought the engine. So i might want to see if i can machine some mounts?
IIRC There are no actual engine mount holes on a 771 block,the mounts on an xr2 are on the gear box and front of the cylinder head. There are a few differences including no spigot bearing in the crank.Originally Posted by mk2escortlad

Can you mount them on a motorplates like the drag racers do. Sorry if this suggestion is useless but i dont know what the mounts on an XR2 engine look like. Jonny.

TBH fwd 1600 x/f motors must be getting rare, its prob worth more than a rwd one so doesnt make sense to try to fit it to an escort
fiesta engines have a single mount located to the top front of the engine on the induction side. No use for RWD.
