Re: where 2 start
Firstly if you are over 18 you do not need a full road driving licence to take an ARDS test Association Of Racing Drivers Schools.
First purchase the go racing pack from the MSA, there is no way out of buying this.
Book your ARDS test and pass it, not hard. £300
Then look at clothing yourself
Helmet to indate Snell or bs standard £250
Overalls, nomex £270
Gloves, nomex £50
Underwear, nomex £175
Boots, nomex £120
£1165 spent so far, cheapest prices taken from the demon tweeks site, inc VAT
You must then prep your car to MSA race spec, belts, plumbed in fire extinguisher, cut out switch.
If only £100 meetings existed, a bargain these days would be around £170 for a 10/15 minute race.
Add in travel costs, fuel, food etc and its an easy £350 per weekend, thats without damaging the car.
Any questions, ask away

Re: where 2 start
as above,
unfortunatly £100 race entries dont exist anymore, occassionally a £100 race crops up, but that would be a case of doing an extra race at a meeting which you have already entered and paid a much higher fee for, these days £200 is a cheap entry, i usually pay £220-250 to do a practice and two races

Re: where 2 start
Firstly, you do not need a car licence to take your ARDS, Association of Racing Driver Schools test.
This will cost you the best part of £300.
You will then need
Helmet, snell of bs standard, £250
Overalls £250
Gloves, nomex, £50
Boots, nomex, £150
Nomex underwear £250
Thats £1350 spent already
A good value 10 to 15 minute race can cost anything between £180 to £250 depending on circuit.
Your car will require an MSA spec cage
plumbed in fire extinguisher
cut out switch
in date MSA spec seat belts
With your entry fee, fuel, food, towing etc you are lookingat £300 per meeting.
If you need specific details give me a shout.

Go Rallying - Similar costs for a days racing - But at least you can split the costs between you and the co-drive !!
