Head gasket failure
Hi folks
im after some advice please
got a head gasket failure which was noticeable by the milky froth in the filler cap and the fact it stopped running.
It’s on a 1600 crossflow
Started to strip it down as I’m going to replace all gaskets and seals etc
when I drained the sump it was almost full of water and when I removed the sump, the crank etc is covered in milky oil as expected
what is the best method to wash down/clean the engine components in situ and protect them from corrosion
its going to be a while before I refit the engine and fire it up so I need to ensure it’s not rusting while it sits for the good weather
what would you use to make sure it stays in good condition after I re assemble it
images below
Any other advice would be appreciated
this is my first time doing a head gasket
thanks
(Sorry I put it in a “how to” section. Should be info request)

Re: Head gasket failure
unless your going to leave the engine somewhere damp you dont really need to do anything, just turn it the right way up, and wrap it in a blanket to keep any condensation at bay,
when you ready to carry on, a can of brake cleaner will be ideal for washing it down. then put it back together with fresh oil and filter, fit it and run it up to temperature then give it a second oil change
