    V short twin weber manifold

Hi anyone used these very short 35mm inlet manifolds for twin webers in mk2 escort.i know a longer intake is surposed to be better.at min iv got 3inch manifold and 60mm trumpets but theres only around inch clearance from inner wing.iv never seen the short manifold in an engine bay so i guess the answer is there restrictive??
    Cheers

short manifolds generally are not restrictive as such, but to induction pulses/ram tuning longer usually works better

How come you never see them! Would it not be beneficial as trumpets would have more space etc

Re: V short twin weber manifold

the engine sees the overall induction length, assuming the manifold doesn't have any nasty sharp bends or corners in it, you will get same results from long trumpets/short manifold as short trumpets/long manifold

Re: V short twin weber manifold

This extreme short manifold was build for lift hand driven cars (Escort, Capri). In England they had enough room for carbs and long manifolds, on this site of the sea we had 44IDF to make clear of the master brake cylinder (and servo). The only other solution was fitting a very short Weber manifold. On some kit cars like replica Super 7's there was also little space to stay "inside" the car. That's where I've been using these manifolds.

With a mild tuned camshaft (little lift at TDC like BP 134) pulse tuning is not as important as with cams like HT1e. It does work fine with 40 DCOE (and better as the 44 IDF setup).

I know someone that built a Pinto Turbo back in the 80's and that had the same inlet manifold and 40 Dellortos like the ones fiited to the Lotus Esprit. It was used so a decent size plenum chamber could be fitted onto the carbs.
