    Cosworth into 2.0 pinto block

Hi guys I've done a fair bit of searching especially on this site. I'm building a mild turbo 2.0 pinto. In searching for parts ive noticed a lot of cosworth parts availability in the rod and piston area. With a standard 2.0 crank and cosworth rods and pistons and working on the basis that the head and block are standard. What would the compression ratio be approximately? Im looking around 8 to one approximately of possible. What would be a good piston/rod set up for that compression ratio if that combination won't get that approximate ratio. Not building a big dollar motor but would like a solid bottom end. By the time I add arp bolts to my standard rods and have them resized I can get a set of new rods for similar price but lc pistons are the issue as most I'm seeing are for cosworth. Im in Australia

Re: Cosworth into 2.0 pinto block

I have a 205 block under my bench that was built as a turbo. If I recall correctly the pistons look to be about 2mm below the deck, but I've never measured them. Piston heads look to have been machined, as there's no stamping on them.
This engine was in my car when I bought it about 11 years ago and was told it was built by Janspeed. What truth is in that, I can't confirm.
I basically pulled the engine out as it was melting clutch cables and cracking my bonnet paint. Replaced it with a built 2.1 N/A 202 block.
I can measure the deck height and look for any markings on the rod over the weekend if it's of any help to you.

Thanks guys I was just wondering if you use standard cosworth rods and pistons what the compression ratio would be as I heard the rod lengths are different

You can just use standard cosworth rods and pistons, but because they have a 19cc dish in the piston you will end up with a very low compression ratio of about 7.25:1 so you will need to do a lot of work somewhere to get teh compression back up, a 1600 head would be a start and raise it a ratio, but your stil going to want to skim the head/deck the block etc

These come in different compression ratio so maybe will help with bringing the cr up

Never believe what the compression ratio says on the piston box, no one can ever predict that unless everything other volumes are measured, each engine’s different.
