Try the cold starter at front of engine may need a clean
two fuel pipes connected to it
Tks will try that
You checked you plugs/leads/dizzy cap/rotor arm etc? Could also be a weak spark.
its not dead till it's buried!

Dildnt they have a rev limiter built into rotar arm?
Most did, kicked in a 6500rpm, but ween't a soft cut thing, you knew when you hit it cos the whole engine would just die for a second or two when you reached it!

Still the same guys new dizzy cap leeds plugs rotor arm car pulls like fk any gear to 3.k revs then splutters no rev any higher
Starts right of key no probs hot or cold is there anything in dizzy body which would cut spark or is it fuel related ?

Forum that may be of help
What I can see on there it may be the mixture needs adjusting,or the meriting unit is sticking top of air filter box
its probably going lean at high revs, most likely culprit is warm up reg, the warm up reg actually adjusts the system pressure in the metering unit, a faulty reg can effect the mixture throughout the rev range but most noticeable higher up the rev range
I'd check the mix/co first and work from there, when was last time fuel filter was changed ?

Just done it car ran great foe 5 mins now worse than ever
Checked your fuel pressure ?, as you did something that affected the problem, it seems very likely to be related, maybe your old filter was a bit clogged, now it's not and you are getting better fuel supply it's even richer, but at least you can rule out the filter now.
What exactly do you mean spitting in the exhaust ?, flames ?, noise ?, there should be no amount of fuel coming out of the exhaust to ignite and spit, why not make sure the engine is healthy first, and do a cylinder leakage test, a compression test is ok if you can't access a leakage test kit, but can hide many things that a leakage test will find, maybe the spit/noise etc is a burnt out exhaust valve.
I'd seriously start at the basics first.

The noise in the exhaust was a popping noise back firing sounded as though it was running on 5 cylinders
The original fuel filter was new as a cut it open to see but was told to upgrade to a xr4 one which is twice the size
