MK1 Escort 4 Door (Turbo Roo)

Hello everyone, I have known of this forum for some time and have been directed to it by a number of friends who have been hassling me for some time to get on and show you all my car. I'm in Sydney, Australia by the way and may have spoken to some on here via email as there have been numerous questions about the car and engine setup.

Anyway it is a 1972 MK1 Escort 4 Door which I have owned for 23 years now. Over that time it has evolved into what you see here. It now runs a turbocharged 1600 Kent engine with an old school turbo setup.

Very nice. Bet it goes as well as it looks. Any idea how much power?

With the current set up, we have seen 120bhp at the wheels @ 10 lb boost. Before I rebuilt this engine it was fairly standard and made 60bhp at the wheels on the same dyno, so yeh it goes pretty good for a street car.

There is potential for more without increasing boost, the exhaust manifold is only a simple log design so I'm currently working on a more free flowing manifold. I wanted the turbo setup to be something that the factory would have built back in the 70's, hence the suck-through setup.

This was the car when I first got it all those years ago.
