    Proper porting

Hi all. I got a pinto head from my pal, John Folan from Galway. The head was fitted with rimflow valves and he said an HT cam, question is I have doubts regarding the port size and the area after the seat, it has a ridge on it that I think will drastically affect flow..any comments lads? I need to know where i need to remove some metal before I do some porting, thanks

    Re: Proper porting

the seats want a 60 degree bottom cut to thin down and smooth out flow over the seats,

a sharp turn just after the seat where the port turns the corner on the exhaust will not effect flow

Thanks,so i guess my mate is correct in telling me that I should not mess with the head. He said it came of from a 2.4 monster pinto and was snapping at the heels of cossies back home. The cam was a kent cam, kent stamp was removed and the lobes re-grounded and stamped with numerous 8's, said it was an HT mark.

Btw, am I seeing the wrong ? Is not this head skimmed too much especially for a 2.4 engine ? I can not see the short turn radius to make any comment. The chamber looks pretty standart and nothing is wrong with that.

thats right mate, head was skimmed and the plugs do foul the piston tops, so i'm putting cut-outs just to prevent valves from hitting them. Chamber is also rough and to me, no advantage can be had in smoothing them out, except to minimize carbon buildup.

Hi, I check it since I might have not noticed it. Thank God its not a crack, its just the rough finish of that side of the chamber. Thanks
