The hole for the diff tunnel is going to need to come further forward than that if you want it to meet up with the new metal work , I did the same thing on Andy's car and had to cut it out some more.

I have never know anyone to bother taking the Ford sealer off, I take it that to uncover any more rust? How will you spray the underside, i.e. with another sealer as any stone will chip it?

Magrah,
The Ford sealer is crap basically, always gets water behind it hence the holes in the floor, it's best to take all of this off.
Although it is a lot better on later cars so it's not always necessary to go to this level, if you are doing a RS Turbo or cossie.
After the floor is rust and paint free it will be primed then stone chipped and finally top coated to match the car.
